Communication Guidelines
Dates & Times
- Use the MMM/DD format. e.g. Sept 23.
- Use UTC as a common timezone for arranging times.
- Always put UTC or UTC with an offset at the end of given times. e.g. 12am UTC or 1pm UTC+1. It is common for people to naturally use their own timezone without thinking and this helps avoid those scenarios.
Asking Questions & Asking for Help
- No question or request for help should go unanswered.
- Use words when responding to questions, instead of relying solely on emojis, particularly for questions like "Should I do X?". An ideal response, in this case, would be "Yes please, this would be useful for Y."
- Respond to questions as soon as you can reasonably do so. If you have an answer to a question but are too busy to write a response right that second react with the "Timer Clock ⏲️" emoji.
- "Can you rephrase your question?" & "Can you rephrase your answer?" are both valid requests.
- Editor's will re-raise questions that get lost until they get a satisfactory answer.
Workload
- Editors will ask at least once weekly if you are in need of any assistance via Direct Message.
- If you're struggling with a task. Ask for help.
- If you're not enjoying yourself. Ask for a change.
- Please don't suffer in silence.
Taking on Tasks
- Do not do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable.
- Feel free to work in areas you lack knowledge. Use it as a learning experience.
Dropping Out
- If you are unable to continue working on the sprint for any reason, we would appreciate it if you could push any work & let your "Editors" know. If you've contributed your name will still appear on any PRs made unless you have stated otherwise.
